Lighting upgrades that fit the house you have
Recessed lights in a living room, better exterior lighting for a dark driveway, and dimmers that stop buzzing are ordinary electrical work. We pull wire the right way, respect box fill, and use wet-rated fixtures outdoors where South Florida weather demands it.
What we’d tell you first
Plain notes, the way a tech would say them on the phone. Then call or book if you want someone at the house.

No cool
Look outside. If the condenser is silent, check the breaker and the disconnect next to the unit. If the fan is running and the air at the vent is warm, or the breaker trips again, stop resetting it and call. That is a part, a coil, or a safety switch — not another thermostat click.

Humidity
A house can hit 74 and still feel wet. Dropping it to 68 just makes it run longer. Note which rooms feel clammy and whether it short-cycles. Airflow, runtime, and the drain come before a dehumidifier or a new system.

Clogged drain
Water in the air-handler closet, or a system that starts and then dies, is often the condensate line. Shut it off if water is on the floor. A simple clog sometimes clears from the outside pipe. If it comes back this week, the trap or the slope needs a look.
Indoor and outdoor
Interior swaps are usually straightforward when the box and circuit are sound. Adding cans in a finished ceiling is a different scope — access, insulation, and airtight housings matter in a humid climate.
Exterior wall packs, porch lights, and landscape feeds need weatherproofing. Storm season is unkind to cheap open fixtures and loose weather seals. Luxury façades and HOA sight lines often decide fixture style before wattage does.
When lighting reveals a bigger issue
Lights that dim when the AC starts, or a room that goes dark with one switch, can point to a shared circuit or a loose neutral. We troubleshoot that instead of hanging a prettier fixture on a bad circuit.
Process
Confirm box rating, circuit capacity, and switching layout. Install or retrofit fixtures. Test GFCI/AFCI where required. Outdoor work uses wet-rated hardware and sealed penetrations.
